A hands-on HR role where your judgement, relationships and ability to get things done really matter.
CAVBUS Group is a family-owned passenger transport business operating across multiple locations in South East Queensland.
We're looking for an experienced HR Advisor to take ownership of the day-to-day HR function across our growing workforce. This is not a role where you'll spend your days sitting behind a desk writing policies — you'll be working closely with managers, depot teams and employees, providing practical HR advice, managing employee relations matters, supporting recruitment and helping keep our people practices compliant, consistent and workable in a busy operational environment.
You'll report to the General Manager, with genuine scope to own and shape the HR function. A solid foundation is already in place — HR policies, a WHS management system, onboarding processes and BrightHR are all established — so this isn't a build-from-scratch role. What it does need is someone who can operate with real autonomy, use sound judgement in situations that aren't always straightforward, and keep that foundation moving forward rather than just maintaining it.
HR Advisor
CAVBUS Group – Logan Coaches
Logan Village, QLD | Full Time
What you'll be doing
Providing practical HR and employee relations advice to managers and leaders
Managing ER matters including performance, conduct, grievances, investigations, disciplinary processes and terminations
Supporting managers through complex or sensitive people matters
Managing recruitment across operational and corporate roles, including driver recruitment
Coordinating onboarding,
employment documentation and employee changes
Reviewing and maintaining HR policies, procedures, employment contracts and position descriptions
Supporting compliance with the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, Modern Awards and company policies
Maintaining accurate HR records within BrightHR
Supporting WorkCover, return-to-work and injury management processes
Contributing to WHS initiatives and incident management
Building genuine trust and rapport with our driver workforce, and being a visible, approachable presence across our depots — not just an office-based function
What you'll need (must-haves)
Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters end-to-end — conduct, performance, grievances and disciplinary processes
Solid working knowledge of the Fair Work Act, NES and Modern Awards
Confidence working autonomously and using sound professional judgement
Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable talking to frontline supervisors through to senior leaders
A genuine ability to build trust and rapport with a driver workforce — someone who gets out from behind the desk, spends time at the depots, and earns credibility with frontline staff rather than being seen as "management" only
Resilience and backbone — the confidence to hold a professional line on standards and process, raise difficult issues directly, and not be talked out of a position that is right just because it is uncomfortable
The ability to operate with real autonomy and sound judgement, including in situations that are ambiguous or politically sensitive
Recruitment and selection experience
Strong written communication and documentation skills
What would be great to have (nice-to-haves)
Experience with a blue-collar, transport, logistics or similarly operational workforce
WHS, injury management or return-to-work experience
Experience with BrightHR or a similar HRIS
A relevant HR, business or WHS qualification
AHRI (Australian HR Institute) membership
Why join CAVBUS Group?
This is an opportunity to build genuine ownership of a broad HR function while staying close to the people and operations you support. You'll work directly with senior management, with the autonomy to manage your own portfolio and continue strengthening the people systems already in place.
We're a family-owned business where relationships matter. Our workforce includes drivers, workshop employees, administration teams and operational leaders across multiple locations — and we want an HR qualified who enjoys working with people from all walks of life, and who understands that trust with a driver workforce is earned through consistency, visibility and follow-through, not policy alone.
If you're an HR professional who enjoys hands-on ER, operational HR, recruitment and building trusted relationships — particularly with
