About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Advisor Regulatory Operations (ARO) within Building Commission NSW's Licensing and Accreditation Directorate. Reporting to the Senior Business Coordinator, this role will support the delivery of process transformation and business improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing licensing assessment processes. Working closely with operational teams and stakeholders, the ARO will assist in identifying process improvement opportunities, documenting business requirements, analysing workflows, and supporting the design and implementation of improved assessment solutions.
The role is suited to an individual with an extensive knowledge of licensing application and assessment processes and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.



The ARO will contribute to initiatives that streamline assessment activities, reduce processing times, improve service delivery, and support regulatory efficiency.
In this role, you will:
Demonstrate experience in effectively interpreting and applying a wide range of legislation, regulations, policies and case law including the Home Building Act ****, the Design and Building Practitioners Act ****, and any other relevant legislation, to provide accurate advice, support decision-making and ensure consistent and compliant assessment outcomes.
In-depth knowledge of licensing application and assessment processes, with the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
Experience supporting process transformation and continuous improvement initiatives, including process mapping, workflow optimisation, and business process redesign.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather, interpret and document business requirements and translate them into practical solutions.
Ability to analyse data and performance metrics to identify trends, process bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
Demonstrated capability to support change management and business readiness activities, fostering adoption of new technologies and ways of working.
Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across operational, business, policy, and technology teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear documentation, reports and draft business requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
In-depth expertise of the Home Building Act ****, the Design and Building Practitioners Act **** and other relevant legislation/ Act.




In-depth knowledge of licensing application and assessment processes.
Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Proven experience working on projects and initiatives, effectively managing competing priorities and ensuring outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes.
Experience supporting business improvement, process transformation, or process optimisation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and customer outcomes.
The ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies and procedures to support informed and consistent decision-making.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across operational, regulatory, policy and technology teams.
Salary Grade ****, with the base salary for this role starting at $116,981 base plus superannuation
