This physiotherapy role works within the long-term ventilation model of care, preparing children for discharge to the community. This role requires cardiorespiratory skills appropriate to the caseload as well as experience with rehabilitation of children with complex disabilities.
What you'll be doing
This position is currently responsible for the physiotherapy management of children and adolescents who fall under the Long Term Ventilation Unit (LTVU)for 15 hours per week. The physiotherapist will also provide support to the Level 4 Outpatient team leader (4 hours per week).
The physiotherapist will provide clinical services to inpatients and/or outpatients as determined by the particular role.
The physiotherapist will provide evidence based care within a multidisciplinary and family centred context, and utilise holistic physiotherapy models of care.
Participation is required in ongoing education, teaching, evidence based practice and quality improvement activities.
The Level 3 Physiotherapist will contribute at an advanced level to:
Planning,
development and evaluation of physiotherapy services.
Development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures and practice guidelines for patient care.
Liaison with community based services relevant to the patient population.
Whilst this role is currently working in the LTVU service the actual workload and structure of the position may change in future to align with the overall structure of the Physiotherapy Department.
