Solutions / Systems Consultant - Warehouse Automation
Turn customer requirements into practical, commercially competitive warehouse automation solutions.
SSI SCHAEFER is looking for a
Solutions / Systems Consultant
to join our Solutions Engineering team and support the continued growth of our business across Australia and New Zealand.
This is a hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys solving complex operational problems and turning ideas into workable solutions. You'll analyse customer requirements and operational data, develop concepts and layouts, produce engineering drawings, size and select equipment, and prepare accurate costing models.
You'll have real ownership of your opportunities while working alongside Sales, Project Delivery and specialist teams across SSI SCHAEFER in Australia and internationally to develop solutions that are practical, innovative and commercially competitive.
The role can be based in Sydney or Melbourne.
What you'll do
Develop material handling and automation solutions for customer opportunities across Australia and New Zealand
Analyse customer operational data to determine system capacities, throughput requirements and appropriate automation solutions.
Develop solution concepts, layouts, engineering drawings and material flow solutions, including system sizing and equipment selection.
Prepare accurate costing models and technical documentation to support high-quality, commercially competitive customer proposals.
Work closely with Sales to understand customer operational requirements and business objectives, providing technical expertise throughout the sales process.
Participate in customer meetings, workshops and presentations, clearly communicating solution concepts, operational analyses and technical recommendations.
Collaborate with Project Delivery, Solutions Engineering colleagues and SSI SCHAEFER Product Centres to ensure proposed solutions are practical,



technically sound and aligned with delivery capabilities.
About you
You'll enjoy getting into the detail of a customer challenge and working out how to solve it. You're technically capable, commercially aware and comfortable taking a solution from operational requirements and data through to something you can design, draw and cost.
We're looking for:
A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a related applied science discipline, equivalent industry experience, or a relevant mechanical or electrical trade qualification supported by industry experience.
Experience in solutions engineering, application engineering, industrial engineering or a similar technical consulting role.
Solid analytical and problem-solving capability and sound engineering judgement.
The ability to develop layouts and engineering drawings and prepare accurate costing models.
Experience interpreting operational data and translating customer requirements into practical technical solutions.
An understanding of solution architecture, system sizing and equipment selection.
Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to different audiences.
The ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities in a dynamic environment.
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with customers and multidisciplinary teams.
