UON's business centres around the design, manufacturing, supply, construction and maintenance of remote, off-grid power and water infrastructure, with many of the products manufactured in UON's Malaga facility, based on proprietary and patented designs.
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the design and specification of electrical, electromechanical, instrumentation and controls products and systems.
This role focuses on business support and innovation.
This is a full-time ongoing position working 38 hours per week, based in Malaga, WA.
Main tasks : -Technical oversight of product development over the full lifecycle (design, assembly, inspecting, testing, installation and commission).
-Assisting the business in project execution for design, product selection, product specification, client advice, technical queries, construction and assembly support and testing and commissioning.
-Reviewing tender bids and providing technical input to the design and product specification as well as pricing estimations in accordance with client and Australian Standards.
-Reviewing, understanding and enforcing client specifications, Australian Standards and Local Regulations or Guidelines.
-Regular travel to site to assist with overseeing construction, conduct quality inspections and commissioning.
-Application of technical knowledge in multi-disciplinary facets of construction with a strong focus on pumping, pipeline and power station installations.
-Performing quality inspections on product or system workmanship, design,



installation and integrity.
-Reviewing client scope of works and executing technical deliverables such as design drawings, calculations, data sheets, equipment lists, material take-off list, bill of materials, subcontractor scopes, testing and commissioning plans, training packages, IOM manuals, specifications, functional descriptions, ITPs, test reports, technical reports and any other works deemed necessary for the project execution.
-Building relationships with suppliers and continuously review new products and innovations in the market.
-Reviewing subcontractor workmanship and manage quality.
-Identifying, formulating and producing effective solutions to emerging problems.
-Providing budget estimates for scope variations or small projects.
-Upholding the values of the company in day to day works.
-Practicing safety in design and uphold safety practices in day to day works.
-Providing technical guidance around electrical design including MCCs, switchboards, control panels, generators, drives, renewables and HV.
Required/Relevant Qualifications Work Experience : -Bachelor's degree (or higher qualification) in Engineering (Electrical or Electronic) – BEng or Equivalent.
-Alternatively, at least five years post trade industry experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
Required/Relevant Skills Knowledge : -Knowledge of construction activities and processes.
-Experience with PowerCad-5 software (desirable).
-Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
