About SData SData Pty Ltd is an Australian technology and data consulting company based in Melbourne.
We help organisations build practical capability across data analytics, business intelligence, data integration, information management, AI, cybersecurity, governance, and technical training.
SData also develops Maycee Retail Dataset, an analytics-ready synthetic Australian retail data product used for data engineering, BI development, data modelling, data quality, and AI evaluation workflows.
About the role We are seeking a full-time Data Analyst to support SData's analytics consulting work and internal data product development.
The role will work across retail analytics datasets, BI and reporting logic, data quality checks, metadata, stakeholder requirements, and repeatable analytical processes.
The successful candidate will gather, process, analyse, and interpret data; prepare reports and visualisations; document analytical definitions; and communicate findings to technical and business stakeholders.
Key responsibilities Collect, extract, prepare, cleanse, validate, and structure data from multiple business sources for analytics, reporting, and data product development.
Analyse retail, operational, product, financial, workforce, and business data to identify trends, patterns, data quality issues, segmentation opportunities, and decision-support insights.
Develop BI dashboards, reporting frameworks, KPI logic, analytical outputs, and data visualisations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, Excel, DAX, and related analytics platforms.
Support the development and continuous improvement of analytics-ready datasets, including SData's Maycee Retail Dataset and related data product documentation.
Contribute to analytical data modelling, semantic definitions, metadata, business glossaries, data dictionaries, and reusable reporting logic to support data analysis and reporting.
Design and run data quality checks, reconciliation processes, exception reporting,



and validation routines to improve trust in analytical outputs.
Translate stakeholder requirements into clear data requirements, dashboard concepts, report specifications, and documented analytical workflows.
Prepare clear reports, presentations, process maps, user guidance, and recommendations that communicate analytical findings to business and technical stakeholders.
Support process improvement and reporting automation using tools such as SharePoint, Power Automate, workflow mapping, and structured documentation where relevant.
Work collaboratively with SData consultants and stakeholders to support data analytics, information management, data governance, and data integration initiatives.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience A relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, data analytics, business analytics, information systems, business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
At least 12 months of relevant Data Analyst, Business Analyst, BI, data reporting, data integration, or analytics project experience, or equivalent part time experience.
Strong SQL and Excel skills, with practical experience preparing, transforming, validating, and analysing structured datasets.
Experience with BI and visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, QuickSight, or similar platforms.
Working knowledge of Python, DAX, KNIME, or similar analytics and automation tools will be highly regarded where relevant to the role.
Ability to develop dashboards, KPI logic, reports, data models, data quality checks, and documentation that support business decision-making.




Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and capacity to explain complex data findings clearly.
Good stakeholder communication skills, including requirements gathering, documentation, presentation of insights, and collaboration with technical and non-technical users.
Ability to work full time from SData's Melbourne base with reasonable hybrid work arrangements as agreed.
Desirable experience and attributes Experience with retail, sales, workforce, finance, ERP, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, or process-improvement datasets.
Experience preparing analytics-ready data products, metadata, data dictionaries, training examples, or product documentation.
Familiarity with data governance, information management, quality assurance, UAT, Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2, Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma, or BPMN 2.0 process mapping.
Vietnamese language capability is highly regarded where it supports communication with Vietnamese-speaking stakeholders, users, suppliers, or product contributors.
This is desirable, not a substitute for the role's English communication requirements.
