Investment Operations and Data Analyst - Python & SQL
Role and Company Overview
Our client is a market-leading Australian investment manager with a strong presence in the rapidly growing ETF market. They're looking to appoint an Investment Operations Analyst to join their Sydney team in a permanent, full-time position.
This is a graduate to early-career opportunity for an academically solid, technically minded problem solver interested in the intersection of finance, technology and investment operations. In this team, you'll gain exposure to the complete ETF trade lifecycle, including portfolio operations, settlements, reconciliations and trading workflows. You'll also contribute to new product launches, API integrations, data-validation frameworks and technology-led process improvements.
Intellectual curiosity and coding capability are valued above extensive industry experience, with remuneration based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
Support the end-to-end ETF trade lifecycle, including trade capture, settlement, corporate actions, creations, redemptions and reporting
Perform daily cash, holdings and transaction reconciliations, maintaining a high standard of data integrity and accuracy
Use Python, SQL and other analytical tools to manipulate data, automate repetitive tasks and reduce manual processing
Investigate trade, reconciliation and market-related issues, identify root causes and implement practical solutions
Partner with technology and data teams to develop, test and implement automation,



API and data-validation solutions
Contribute to new ETF launches, system enhancements, operational documentation and broader process-improvement projects
Skills and Experience
A bachelor's degree with a strong academic record in a quantitative discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics or Finance
A high-achieving graduate or professional with up to five years' experience in investment operations, fund administration, financial technology, trading operations or data analytics
Practical Python and SQL skills, with experience in data manipulation, analysis, automation and reporting
Strong analytical reasoning, attention to detail and a structured approach to solving complex problems
A genuine interest in financial markets, ETFs, investments and trading; exposure to APIs, automation, AI or machine learning is highly advantageous
Clear communication skills, intellectual curiosity and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
