WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR-
We are seeking an experienced
Crew Leader
to join our team working on water industry and civil infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have strong experience leading crews and carrying out water main and service renewals, boring and excavation works.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a crew on water and civil construction projects.
Carry out
water main and service renewals
.
Operate and coordinate works involving
Grundomat boring equipment
.
Safely operate excavators and other relevant plant.
Carry out works in accordance with project specifications, SWMS and safety requirements.
Read and interpret
Dial Before You Dig (DBYD)
information and identify existing services before excavation.
Manage trenching, excavation and
trench shoring
requirements.
Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients and other contractors.
Maintain a safe work environment and ensure crew members follow site safety procedures.
Required Experience




Previous experience as a
Crew Leader / Leading Hand
in the water or civil construction industry.
Demonstrated experience with
water mains and service renewals
.
Experience with
Grundomat / underground boring
.
Excavator operating experience.
Experience working within the
water industry
.
Ability to read and understand DBYD plans and service information.
Experience with trenching and trench shoring.
Required Tickets & Qualifications
White Card
Excavator licence
Confined Space-enter and initial AND Rescue
Asbestos Awareness and non-friable
Install trench support
Fire extinguisher and extinguish gas fire
Breathing Apparatus
Working at Heights
Manual Handling
Relevant plant/operator competencies
HR licence
Skills & Attributes
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Safety-focused approach to all work.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good understanding of underground services and excavation safety.
Reliable, punctual and professional.
Ability to work in a physically demanding construction environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Previous water industry experience is highly desirable.
Accountable, Reliable and safety-conscious workers
Experience in Water utility industry (preferred)
