About the Role
An experienced or high-potential State Manager is required to take commercial and operational leadership of state operations for an established, market-leading enterprise. This position will oversee all local functions in the state, drive revenue and profitability, and lead and grow the state team. This is an important role tasked with executing business strategy, driving operational excellence, and strengthening long-term client and channel relationships across the state.
Responsibilities
P&L; Oversight:
Direct accountability for state revenue, profit targets, operating budgets, cost control, and margin optimisation.
Operations & Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor the team, set clear KPIs, optimise workflows, address skill gaps, and create and contribute to a high-performance culture.
Strategic Growth:
Translate corporate objectives into actionable state business plans, identifying current channel opportunities, niche project markets, and commercial accounts.
Escalation & Relationship Building:
Act as the primary escalation point for key enterprise accounts, distribution networks, and trade partners to assist the team and deliver results.
Reporting & Governance:
Maintain accurate financial and operational reporting, providing regular business performance insights, advice, and recommendations to executive management.
Requirements
Proven Leadership Experience:
Demonstrated track record as a State Manager, Regional Manager, Branch Manager, or Senior Commercial Leader within a structured B2B business or similar environment.
Financial & Commercial Experience:
Experience managing state or branch P&Ls;, operating budgets, forecasting, and commercial risk.
People-First Management:
Strong team builder skilled at coaching, delegating, and holding teams accountable to clear benchmarks.
High-Level Negotiation:
Exceptional communication, mediation, and relationship-building skills across corporate and commercial clients.
Autonomy & Drive:
Self-motivated leader capable of operating with local authority while remaining aligned with national corporate objectives.
Growth Potential:
While previous state-level experience is advantageous, high-performing leaders with strong transferable skills and the commercial drive ready to step up into their first State Manager role are strongly encouraged to apply.
