We are now seeking an Operations Leadto take ownership of Optec's workforce and business operations, continuing to drive service excellence for our workforce and clients while strengthening our operational foundations.
The Opportunity
This is a critical role within Optec, responsible for the end-to-end coordination of our contractor workforce together with the broader operational, compliance, commercial and administrative activities that support the business.
Working directly with the Managing Director, you'll take ownership across workforce operations, mobilisation, compliance, contractor management, safety administration. With oversight of payroll coordination, invoicing, purchase orders, insurance, and operational systems.
You'll be responsible for making sure our people are properly onboarded, compliant, mobilised, safe, and supported, while ensuring the operational and commercial processes behind our workforce run effectively.
You'll also help us develop better systems, processes, and ways of working as Optec continues to grow.
You will need to be equally comfortable organising, executing and innovating.
The position is available on a predominantly remote basis, providing significant flexibility in how you structure your working environment. You'll need to be available to attend Optec's Brisbane office and meet with contractors, clients and other stakeholders when required.
We are primarily seeking a full-time appointment; however, part-time arrangements will be considered for the right candidate with the appropriate experience and capability.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-end contractor onboarding, mobilisation, extensions, redeployment and offboarding
Mining medicals,



Coal Board Medicals, drug & alcohol screening and background checks
Company, client and site inductions, Standard 11, VOCs, licences, competencies and certifications
Site access, contractor management portals and mobilisation requirements
Workforce compliance, competency and expiry management
Contractor engagement, wellbeing and ongoing workforce support
HSE administration, safety documentation and workforce governance
Timesheets, payroll coordination and workforce administration
Purchase orders, client invoicing and commercial administration
Accounts receivable follow-up and supplier administration where required
Workers' Compensation, Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and insurance documentation
Labour hire licensing and corporate compliance requirements
Client onboarding, supplier pre-qualification, audits and tender support
Workforce reporting, operational systems and documentation
Development of SOPs, registers, trackers and operational standards
Process improvement, technology, automation and better ways of working
About You
We're looking for a highly capable professional who understands the requirements of labour hire and recruitment operations, supporting workforces within Australia's mining and resources sectors.
A related bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Human Resources, Management, or relevant industry experience
Skilled experience in labour hire or recruitment operations, with a focus in the Australian mining, resources, mining services sector
Hands-on experience onboarding and mobilising personnel into operational mining environments
Strong knowledge of mining medicals, D&A; screening, inductions, competencies, certifications and site-access requirements
Experience managing workforce and contractor compliance
Working knowledge of HSE,



safety and fitness-for-work requirements
Experience in workforce operations, labour hire, contractor management, mobilisation or recruitment delivery
Exposure to timesheets, payroll, invoicing, purchase orders and commercial administration
Strong organisational and stakeholder management capability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong numerical, analytical and problem solving capability
Strong systems and technology capability
A commercially aware and solutions-focused approach
You'll be proactive, accountable, and comfortable taking ownership.
You'll exercise sound judgement, identify problems early and follow things through to resolution.
You'll be comfortable working across the detail of day-to-day operations while also looking at the bigger picture and identifying opportunities to improve how things are done.
This is a role for someone who enjoys getting things done, creating structure and taking responsibility for outcomes.
