Skotte Group is a growing Brisbane based qualified services business. We support clients to plan, procure, govern, and deliver complex programs and projects.
We started out in business in **** and now employ 25 staff from our office in the Brisbane CBD.
As the business grows and moves into its next phase of maturity, we are further strengthening our operating model, governance, commercial discipline, and internal systems. We are seeking a Finance and Business Manager who can bring structure, clarity, and leadership to the way the business operates as it continues to scale.
About the Opportunity
This is a hands-on leadership role for a commercially minded professional who enjoys creating order, improving systems, and overseeing ongoing, sustainable and disciplined business management and growth. You will work closely with the founders and leadership team to support day-to-day operations while also shaping the systems, reporting rhythms, and governance settings that will support Skotte Group's growth over the next 3-5 years.
The role would suit someone who is comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels.Able to prepare financial and commercial analysis and management information for owners, while also ensuring the basics of finance, compliance, contracts, HR, workforce planning, and business administration are well managed.
You won't be starting from scratch. We are ISO **** accredited, we employ an exceptional Business Support Officer and have first class book-keeping, accounting and payroll support.
This role is about our next phase in growth, taking what is already here and improving it and creating an enhanced commercial reporting and business management discipline to allow the business to plan and react well to the growth opportunities we see in our market and to support our people to grow and thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate day-to-day business operations across finance, people, compliance,



contracts, administration, and internal business support.
Support financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow monitoring, margin analysis, billing coordination, and monthly management reporting.
Enhance and maintain practical governance frameworks, policies, operating procedures, internal controls, and decision-making disciplines.
Oversee contract administration, supplier and sub-contractor management, procurement processes, insurance records, and key business registers.
Support workforce planning, resourcing and utilisation visibility, onboarding, leave planning, role documentation, and performance-related processes.
Establish and maintain business reporting rhythms, including leadership meetings, action tracking, board or founder reporting, and management information packs.
Identify operational, commercial, compliance, and delivery risks and help implement practical mitigation actions.
Improve systems, templates, processes, workflows, and documentation to reduce friction and support scalable growth.
Provide commercial analysis, decision support, and implementation assistance for founders and the leadership team.
About You
You are an experienced, commercially astute professional who understands professional services businesses and their needs.
You are confident with numbers and finance including management reporting and analytics, disciplined with process controls, and comfortable working in a close-knit team.
Essential Experience and Capabilities
Experience in business operations,



financial or commercial management, practice management, corporate services, finance operations, or a similar business management role.
Strong financial literacy, including budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, cash flow awareness, and commercial analysis.
Demonstrated ability to build, improve, and embed business processes in a growing or changing organisation.
Sound understanding of governance, compliance, risk management, contract administration, or quality management systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports, actions, briefings, and decision papers.
Confidence working with founders, owners, directors, senior stakeholders, advisers, suppliers, and project teams.
High attention to detail, strong follow-through, and the ability to work independently while keeping others informed.
Experience in a professional services environment.
Exposure to contract management, procurement processes, project controls, resourcing, or delivery governance.
Experience supporting founders, owners, directors, or leadership teams in a small-to-mid sized business or scaling organisation.
Familiarity with business systems, reporting tools, document control, CRM, finance platforms, or workflow improvement initiatives.
