Make a Difference As a Data Science Analyst, you are proactive and curious about finding hidden patterns in data to deliver better customer and business outcomes. You collaborate with your colleagues to drive data led decision making across Telstra. By supporting the business to identify opportunities and risks you are central to our success. Support with development of complex analytical and reporting solutions for stakeholders based on diverse data sources and automated dataflows critical to Operations and Infrastructure. The role is pivotal in enabling data-driven decision-making across Operations and Infrastructure. This role combines business acumen with technical expertise to design, automate, and implement analytics solutions using diverse data sources. The analyst develops transparent,
actionable and insight-driven dashboards to track investment outcomes, ensure compliance, support planning and forecasting growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and define business problems, translating the business needs into actionable insights, and undertake relevant reporting solutions following an Agile framework.
Produce clear and concise reports and dashboards that communicate key findings and recommendations to stakeholders across the business.
Continuously enhance dashboard functionality based on user feedback and evolving business requirements.
Build, automate and maintain complex analytics on performance management to identify opportunities and risks and maximise performance for business areas.
Analyse complex data sets and identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and insights using various data analysis techniques and tools such as SQL, Power BI, R/Python.
Perform in-depth quantitative analysis, articulate complex data patterns using descriptive analysis, and prepare data using statistical models for use in predictive/prescriptive analysis.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and define KPIs that align with the business objectives, and develop, and track to monitor operational and strategic performance.
Build and maintain scalable dataflows and pipelines ensuring data quality and integrity.
Use Power Platform tools such as Flows and PowerApps to automate reporting and optimise processes.
Contribute to building a strong team dynamic so working together is fun and everyone thrives.
Significantly drive continuous improvement, transformation and efficiency into current reporting and analytics processes, including driving self-serve ability across the organisation.
Understanding of cloud data analytics technology stack and their application to explore and pilot predictive analytical solutions using Fabric, AI, Lake.
About you
Essential Skills
4+ years' experience in data science, analytics, reporting and business intelligence.
Experience working within Agile frameworks and methodologies, using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
Stakeholder collaboration, business engagement and process lifecycle management experience.
Ability to document complex business requirements and translate them into actionable reporting insights.
Define KPIs with stakeholders and develop measures to track risk, compliance and operational outcomes.
Strong analytics capability across root cause, statistical, descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analysis.
Experience building ETL pipelines, ingestion strategies and scalable data preparation processes.
Advanced Power BI, Power Query, dataflows and semantic models to develop dashboards and reporting.
Power Platform, Power Automate, PowerApps, SQL, Microsoft Fabric, lakehouse architecture and notebooks.
Enterprise data modelling using star and snowflake schemas to improve efficiency, consistency and reusability.
Clear communication, structured problem solving and attention to detail in a collaborative team environment.
Desirable Skills
Experience working with Python, Databricks and data warehouse platforms.
Understanding of AI models, including generative AI and agentic AI capabilities.
Prior experience in telecommunications, critical infrastructure and/or asset management sectors.
Understanding of data management principles, including governance, process automation and audit trails.
Experience working across risk, compliance and operational efficiency domains.
