Are you a senior IT leader looking to step into a practice‐building role? Lead, grow, and shape a high‐performing Hybrid Cloud Practice for a leading Australian IT consultancy.
About the Role
A premier Australian IT consultancy specializing in guiding mid‐market businesses into the modern digital and Agentic AI era is seeking a high‐caliber Practice Lead to own their Hybrid Cloud Practice. In this multi‐disciplinary leadership role, you will balance commercial growth, technical oversight, client engagement, and team development. You will act as the principal technical voice for the practice, shaping modern infrastructure solutions and leading a talented team of engineers and consultants from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Presales & Advisory: Lead client discovery, design workshops, and construct compelling solution architectures and SOWs alongside sales teams.
Technical Quality & Governance: Maintain reference architectures, act as an escalation point for complex technical issues, and ensure modern best practices across virtualisation, cloud, and security.
Practice Ownership: Own practice performance, including revenue growth, team utilisation, margin management, and developing current managed service offerings (e.g., Backup/DR).




People Leadership: Mentor, lead, and grow a team of engineers and technical consultants, building capability plans and driving a high‐performance culture.
Vendor Partnerships: Build key operational relationships with strategic technology partners (Microsoft, VMware, backup, and networking/security vendors).
Key Selection Criteria
Proven Leadership: Strong background in a technical leadership or practice lead role within an IT consultancy, MSP, or client‐facing workplace.
Deep Technical Breadth: Hands‐on experience across on‐premises infrastructure, VMware/Hyper‐V, networking, firewalls, Backup/DR, and Microsoft Azure.
Presales & Architecture: Demonstrated track record in technical discovery, solution design, and proposal writing.
Commercial Acumen: Clear experience managing P&L;/margins, resource utilisation, and service offerings.
Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to bridge business objectives with technical strategy.
Desirable Skills & Attributes
Experience building or scaling Managed Services offerings (e.g., Managed DR, Managed Backup).
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Azure certifications, VMware VCP, or networking/security credentials).
Exposure to AI‐enabled infrastructure tools or automation frameworks.
