ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Grade 3 Sleep Scientist to join the Sleep Service at St Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne. This senior position combines advanced clinical practice with leadership responsibilities and will play a key role in supporting the ongoing development of a high-performing, patient-centred sleep service.
Working closely with the Allied Health Manager, medical specialists and multidisciplinary team members, you will provide clinical leadership, staff supervision, service coordination and quality improvement initiatives while delivering exceptional patient care.
As a recognised senior clinician within the department, you will foster a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based sleep diagnostic services.
YOUR IMPACT
Provide advanced clinical expertise in polysomnography and sleep diagnostics.
Lead and promote evidence-based practice across the Sleep Service.
Supervise, support and mentor Grade 1 and Grade 2 Sleep Scientists.
Coordinate clinical education activities where required.
Support workforce planning through rostering and staffing coordination.
Assist with recruitment, onboarding and orientation of new team members.
Lead and participate in quality improvement and service development initiatives.
Contribute to departmental audits, accreditation activities and clinical governance processes.
Build strong collaborative relationships with Sleep Physicians, nursing teams, allied health clinicians and hospital leadership.
Promote a culture of patient-centred care, safety, excellence and innovation.

ABOUT YOU
You are an experienced Sleep Scientist with a passion for clinical excellence, leadership and service improvement. You thrive in a collaborative workplace and are committed to supporting both patients and colleagues to achieve the best possible outcomes. Your skills and experience will include:
Essential Minimum five years' experience working within a sleep medicine service or relevant clinical specialty & minimum two years in senior role.
Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring or supporting junior clinicians and students.
Strong clinical expertise in polysomnography and sleep diagnostics.
Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder engagement skills.
Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centred care.
Experience participating in quality improvement, risk management or accreditation activities.
Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Current Working with Children Check.
National Police Check.
Highly Desirable Experience leading quality improvement projects.
Experience with staffing coordination, rostering or workforce management.
Exposure to recruitment, orientation and performance development processes.
Additional qualifications or postgraduate studies relevant to Sleep Science or leadership.
Experience contributing to education, research, teaching or professional development activities.
Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certification (or working towards).
Experience with Noxturnal PSG
Experience with NATA accreditation
