The Opportunity:
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced HR Advisor to join a collaborative People & Culture team based in Cairns. Reporting to a senior leader, you will provide practical, contemporary and people-focused HR support across the full employee lifecycle while partnering closely with managers and employees to deliver positive workforce outcomes.
This is a hands-on generalist HR role where no two days are the same. You'll play a key role in supporting employee relations, recruitment, workforce administration, compliance activities, policy development and organisational initiatives that contribute to a high-performing and engaged workforce.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide timely and practical HR advice across employee relations, performance management, workplace concerns, leave matters, conduct issues and interpretation of employment conditions and workplace legislation.
Coach and support managers in managing performance, addressing employee concerns, conducting difficult conversations and implementing fair, documented and compliant people management processes.
Coordinate end-to-end recruitment activities including position descriptions, advertising, interview support, candidate management, employment offers and pre-employment compliance requirements.
Manage onboarding, induction, probation, employment variations and offboarding activities while ensuring accurate documentation and positive employee experiences throughout the employment lifecycle.
Support workplace reviews and investigations through information gathering, documentation preparation, stakeholder liaison and adherence to procedural fairness principles.
Maintain accurate and confidential HR records, workforce data and reporting systems while monitoring compliance obligations including licences, police checks, right-to-work documentation and other mandatory requirements.
Your Skills & Experience:
Demonstrated experience in a generalist Human Resources role, providing advice and support across a broad range of HR functions.
Strong working knowledge of Australian employment legislation, industrial relations frameworks, modern awards and contemporary HR best practice.
Experience managing employee relations matters including performance management, conduct issues, workplace concerns and investigations.
Proven ability to coordinate recruitment and onboarding activities while delivering a positive candidate and employee experience.
High-level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.
Experience maintaining HR systems, workforce reporting, employment records and compliance documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative and values-driven team environment.
