As we continue to grow, we are looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help us scale our platform.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team as a full-time equivalent contractor. This individual will be responsible for improving our existing codebase, developing new features, and ensuring the robustness and scalability of our platform. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with PHP, Laravel, JavaScript, AWS, and mobile-responsive design. They will also be adept at integrating with third-party tools such as Zoom, Twilio, and Payment Gateways.
In this role, you will work closely with our CTO and Head of Cloud Ops as we expand the team to include additional engineers, product design, and QA. You must be available for daily check-ins during regular business hours in the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone, with flexibility in working hours. The initial contract period is 6 months,
with potential for extensions or full time employment based on successful performance and continued company success.
Responsibilities
Develop and integrate recent features to enhance our telehealth platform functionality
Refactor and improve existing code for better performance and maintainability
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and provide technical solutions
Ensure the platform is secure, scalable, and efficient
Mentor other developers and work with other contractors, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment
Manage deployment processes and ensure smooth operation of the platform in a production environment
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve the platform
Work closely with the CTO to align technical strategies with business goals
Interface with veterinarians and other stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements
Coordinate with third-party vendors to integrate external services and APIs
Partner with DevOps and QA teams to ensure seamless deployment and high-quality releases
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Requirements
Availability for daily check-ins during regular business hours in the Eastern Standard Time (EST) zone, with flexibility in working hours
Experience
5+ years of experience in software development
Proven experience with Laravel 11 and PHP
Strong JavaScript skills, with experience in frameworks such as Node.js
Proficiency in AWS cloud services and architecture
Experience with mobile-responsive design using frameworks like Bootstrap CSS
Experience integrating with third-party tools such as Zoom, Twilio, and Stripe
Experience with REST APIs
Skills
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience with Git version control
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the veterinary or healthcare industry.
Previous experience in a leadership or team lead role.
Knowledge of agile development methodologies.
Experience in SOC 2 compliant organizations.
