Our client, a well-established food manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their production team.This is a hands-on position responsible for maintaining, fault-finding, repairing and improving a wide range of food production machinery.
You will play an important role in keeping equipment operating safely, efficiently and reliably while minimising production downtime.Please note: This role involves working in a food manufacturing setting where you must be comfortable working around and handling pork products.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out scheduled preventative maintenance and respond to equipment breakdownsTroubleshoot and repair mechanical issues to reduce equipment downtimeInstall, assemble, test and maintain production machinery and mechanical componentsRepair, adjust and modify machinery and equipment when requiredInspect equipment and identify wear, faults, defects and potential safety issuesMaintain and repair pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatic and hydraulic systemsAccurately complete maintenance documentation and recordsSupport continuous improvement projects focused on equipment performance and reliabilityEnsure maintenance activities comply with HACCP, GMP, WHS and food safety requirementsMaintain a clean,
safe and organised maintenance and production environmentWork closely with production and maintenance teams to support daily operational requirementsAbout YouA recognised trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Fitter or equivalentAt least 5 years' experience in mechanical fitting or maintenanceStrong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skillsExperience working with preventative maintenance programsSound knowledge of pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, pneumatics and hydraulicsBasic welding capabilities, with TIG and MIG experience highly regardedExperience operating lathes and milling machines is advantageousPrevious experience in FMCG, food manufacturing, packaging or processing will be highly regardedA strong understanding of workplace safety, hygiene and quality requirementsThe ability to work both independently and as part of a teamExcellent communication skills and strong attention to detailAbility and willingness to work around and handle pork products in a food manufacturing environmentWhat's on OfferJoin a stable and growing Australian food manufacturing businessWork with a diverse range of production and processing equipmentSupportive and collaborative team environmentOngoing training and development opportunitiesStaff discounts across a range of productsAccess to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for confidential support and counselling
