CNC Machinist – Turning & MillingSumner, QLD$42–$50 per hour + penaltiesDay Shift & Afternoon Shift OpportunitiesAre you an experienced CNC Machinist who enjoys varied, technical work rather than repetitive production machining?
Our client is a well-established Australian engineering and manufacturing business specialising in the design and manufacture of custom machinery, automation systems and specialised industrial equipment.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking skilled CNC Turning and Milling Machinists to join their highly capable workshop team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse range of one-off and small-batch precision components, with plenty of variety and the chance to take ownership of each job from setup through to completion.The Role as a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for:Setting up and operating CNC lathes and machining centresPerforming ISO programming and making program adjustments directly at the machineWorking with Fanuc and/or Okuma control systemsReading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings and specificationsManufacturing precision components to tight tolerancesCompleting first-off inspections and maintaining dimensional accuracySelecting tooling and optimising machining processesManaging machine setups from start to finishProducing one-off and small-batch components in a jobbing workshop environmentMaintaining a protected, organised and productive work areaSuccessful candidates will initially commence on day shift to complete training and onboarding.
Afternoon-shift opportunities may then be available depending on operational requirements.About You To be successful, you will ideally have:Proven experience operating CNC turning and/or CNC milling machinesStrong experience using Fanuc and/or Okuma controlsThe ability to complete ISO programming and program edits at the machineExperience working in a jobbing workshop, custom manufacturing or low-volume production environmentStrong ability to read and interpret engineering drawingsA high level of accuracy and attention to detailStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independentlyPride in producing high-quality precision componentsHighly Regarded The following experience will be highly regarded:Trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner, Toolmaker or equivalent engineering tradeExperience manufacturing components for custom machinery or specialised equipmentExperience across both CNC turning and CNC millingLeading Hand, supervisory or workshop leadership experienceWhat's on Offer$42–$50 per hour + penalties, depending on experienceDay-shift and afternoon-shift opportunitiesLong-term, stable employment with a respected Australian engineering manufacturerDiverse and technically challenging machining workMinimal repetitive production-line workModern workshop facilities and quality equipmentOpportunity to develop into a Leading Hand role for the right candidateWork alongside a skilled and experienced engineering teamIf you are an experienced CNC Machinist who enjoys technical, hands-on work, machining a wide variety of components and seeing a job through from setup to completion, we would like to hear from you.
