Learn more at progressrail.comAbout the role:Join the Progress Rail Service team and play a key role in maintaining and supporting our locomotive fleet.
As a Locomotive Maintainer, you will be responsible for servicing, repairing, modifying and providing technical support for locomotives to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.This includes:Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on locomotives and equipmentDiagnosing faults and troubleshooting mechanical or electrical issuesReading and interpreting technical drawings and maintenance documentationCompleting preventative maintenance and repairs on rolling stock, wagons, plant,



and facilitiesMaintaining accurate service and maintenance recordsProviding recommendations to improve operational efficiency and equipment reliabilityWorking collaboratively with the maintenance team while also being able to work independentlyParticipating in ongoing training and development opportunitiesAbout you:Ability to read, comprehend and apply technical drawings.High level of communication and interpersonal skills.High level of problem-solving skills and the ability to work as part of a team.Ability and willingness to further your knowledge and skills with additional training.Knowledge and understanding of diesel/electric locomotive engines and its associated equipment is preferable.Skills and experience:Experience in a heavy maintenance environmentStrong fault-finding and troubleshooting skillsAbility to read and understand technical drawingsExcellent communication and teamwork skillsStrong organisational and record-keeping abilitiesA proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to work with minimal supervisionExperience with locomotives, freight maintenance, or rail service activities - desirableKnowledge of diesel-electric locomotive engines and associated equipment - desirableWhy Work for Progress Rail KooragangRotating roster across day, afternoon, and night shifts (Monday to Sunday)Regular overtime opportunitiesCompetitive hourly rates plus shift allowancesStudy assistance and training supportAbout our process:At Progress Rail, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the Values and meet the requirements of the role.
