OpportunityOur client, a major federal government agency, is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer/Arhcitect with strong solution architecture capability and demonstrated experience delivering AI platforms and workloads in public multi-cloud environments.
The role lead complex solutions from architecture through to implementation, and will involve designing, building and optimising secure cloud environments across both greenfield implementations and existing brownfield platforms.
You will help establish foundational cloud capabilities, reusable patterns and governance frameworks, and lead the delivery of secure, scalable and highly available infrastructure supporting artificial intelligence, machine learning and generative AI services.Your duties will include:Lead end-to-end cloud solution analysis, architecture, design, integration and implementationDesign and deliver robust, reusable cloud solutions across greenfield and brownfield environmentsBuild and maintain secure, scalable and highly available Azure or AWS infrastructureDesign cloud infrastructure supporting AI, machine learning and generative AI platforms and servicesLead the migration, deployment, configuration and optimisation of cloud-based AI workloadsDevelop reusable Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation or similar technologiesImplement secure-by-design and DevSecOps principles throughout the delivery lifecycleEstablish cloud governance controls, policies, guardrails and resource-management practicesDesign and implement RBAC or IAM, cloud security controls and regulatory compliance measuresDesign cloud networking solutions, including virtual networks, routing,



security controls and hybrid connectivityDevelop and improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline or comparable technologiesIdentify solution gaps, integration requirements and options for closing technical capability gapsCoordinate technical delivery across internal teams, vendors and other stakeholdersAct as the technical point of contact for large and complex projects or programs when requiredResolve complex, sensitive or escalated technical issuesPrepare solution designs, technical documentation, reports and implementation guidanceProvide technical leadership, knowledge sharing and training across Azure and AWS environmentsPresent technical recommendations and influence outcomes across senior business and technical forumsDrive innovation, continuous improvement and technology-led changeSkills and Experience we are looking for:Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end solution design and translate architecture into delivered technical outcomesDeep expertise in either Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services, with working knowledge of the other platformDemonstrated experience personally designing,



implementing and delivering enterprise cloud environmentsStrong experience delivering both greenfield and brownfield cloud solutionsPractical experience migrating and deploying cloud-based AI, machine learning or generative AI workloadsExperience covering AI workload architecture, data migration, model deployment and platform integrationStrong Infrastructure as Code capability using Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation or equivalent toolsExperience implementing DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelinesStrong cloud governance and security experience, including policies, guardrails, RBAC, IAM and secure-by-design principlesExperience with Azure Security Center, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, AWS Security Hub or comparable cloud-security services, and related certificationsStrong Azure networking experience across VNets, peering, Network Security Groups and routing; and/or AWS networking experience across VPCs, subnets, security groups and NAT gatewaysExcellent problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skillsExperience operating independently in a complex enterprise or government environmentCandidates should be prepared to clearly explain what they personally designed, implemented and delivered.
This should include the technologies used, the scale and complexity of the workplace, their individual contribution and the outcome achieved.Applications demonstrating genuine hands-on delivery experience will be prioritised over those focused primarily on broad architecture responsibilities or oversight.Please note that Australian Citizenship is mandatory for this federal government opportunity.
