Job description
About Music NT
Music NT is the Northern Territory's peak music industry body, supporting artists, communities, and music businesses across the Territory - from Darwin's live music scene to remote and First Nations communities throughout Central Australia and beyond.
We're a small, passionate team doing big, meaningful work.
The Role
We're looking for a creative communicator and skilled relationship builder to join our team as Communications and Engagement Coordinator.
You'll lead our public communications, manage social media and digital channels, support stakeholder and member engagement, and help tell the story of music's cultural and economic value across the NT.
This is a genuinely varied role - one day you might be writing a media release about a festival partnership, the next you're developing content for a remote community music program or coordinating promotional materials for an upcoming music event.
If you thrive in a dynamic environment and care about the power of music and culture, we'd love to hear from you.
Location
This role is Alice Springs or Darwin-based.
We welcome applications from candidates based elsewhere in the NT, and we're happy to have a conversation about flexible start arrangements.
For the right candidate, hybrid or remote working arrangements may be considered during an establishment period, with the expectation of an eventual Darwin base.
Darwin and Alice Springs are both remarkable places to live - vibrant, multicultural, and close to some of Australia's most extraordinary landscapes and communities.
What You'll Be Doing
Leading MusicNT's brand voice, content strategy, and digital presence across social media, website, and e-newsletters
Building awareness of MusicNT and the NT music industry through proactive media engagement and targeted communications
Growing and maintaining MusicNT's membership base through consistent, meaningful stakeholder engagement
Developing communications and marketing support for MusicNT's programs and events
Capturing the stories, outcomes, and voices of artists and communities we work with
Contributing to organisational planning, grant reporting, and internal communications as required
What You'll Bring
Essential:
Demonstrated experience in communications, marketing, PR, or a related field
Strong writing skills across multiple formats - social, web, media, reports, and promotional content
Experience managing digital channels and content calendars
Confidence engaging with diverse stakeholders, including people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
Self-motivation and the ability to manage competing priorities in a small-team environment
Desirable:
Experience in the arts, music, or community sector
Experience communicating with or working alongside First Nations communities
Familiarity with the Northern Territory or regional and remote Australia
Experience with membership-based organisations or peak bodies
We're open to candidates from a range of skilled backgrounds.
A relevant degree is valued but not essential - what matters most is demonstrated capability and genuine interest in the role.
Why Join Us?
Work at the heart of the NT's music and cultural sector
Flexible, trust-based working culture - ********* FTE with flexibility around how your days are structured
A team that values creativity, purpose, and genuine community impact
FTE Salary range of $80,008 – $85,800 per annum (pro-rata at 0.8 FTE) + 12% superannuation, at SCHADS Award Level 3
Darwin lifestyle - vibrant, multicultural, and close to extraordinary landscapes
For a confidential discussion about the role, email ****** using the subject line: Communications and Engagement Coordinator enquiry via EthicalJobs.
Music NT is committed to diversity and strongly encourages applications from First Nations people, people with lived experience of remote communities, and candidates from all cultural and professional backgrounds.
