As the Work, Health & Safety Advisor you will lead Anglicare NQ's organisation-wide work, health and safety function.
You will provide specialist advice to Executive, managers and staff; develop and recommend operational policies, procedures and work practices; lead significant WHS projects and assurance activities; analyse risk and performance information; and drive related prevention and continuous improvement efforts in multiple worksites across North and Far North Queensland.
A key focus is the effective management of physical hazards, injury prevention, rehabilitation and return to work, consultation, safety culture and contributing to the management of psychosocial hazards.
You will also work with service and safeguarding leaders, so WHS systems support Child Safe Organisation obligations where safety responsibilities intersect.
Relevant tertiary qualifications with substantial experience in work health and safety.
RRTWC, investigation/audit and Fire Safety Adviser qualifications are highly regarded




Comprehensive knowledge of Queensland WHS framework, workers' compensation, rehabilitation and return-to-work requirements, including the management of psychosocial hazards and risks
Significant experience developing and improving WHS systems, policies, procedures, risk controls, investigations, audit and compliance activities across multi-site or human services environments
Proven ability to lead significant projects and functions, analyse data and trends, exercise sound judgement and prepare clear reports, recommendations and briefings for Executive and governance committees
High-level consultation, communication, negotiation and influencing skills, including working with managers, staff, health and safety representatives, regulators, insurers and specialist providers
Demonstrated understanding of child safe practices and Queensland Child Safe Organisation Standards and the ability to integrate safeguarding considerations into risk and assurance work
Commitment to diversity, inclusion, reconciliation and Closing the Gap objectives, with experience working respectfully with First Nations people, organisations and communities
Evidence of qualifications
Satisfactory outcome of a current (less than 3 months old) National Criminal History Check
Blue Card (QLD working with children card)
LCS2 (child safety screening check)
QLD drivers' licence 'Class C' or interstate equivalent
Ability (and willingness) to undertake local, regional and remote area travel across North and Far North Queensland
Out of hours work may be required from time to time
First Aid certificate and CPR certificate
