The Role:
We are currently seeking a reliable and hands-on Handyman to join our Engineering team.
This role is responsible for maintaining the hotel, guest rooms, public areas, fixtures, and equipment to ensure the property remains safe, functional, and presented to the highest standards for our guests and team members.
In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance across the hotel, responding to guest requests, and supporting the day-to-day operation of the Engineering department.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general repairs and maintenance throughout guest rooms and public areas.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and departments.
Complete preventative maintenance tasks in accordance with the hotel's maintenance program.




Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and identified defects.
Report major repairs and maintenance issues requiring specialist trades.
Monitor and follow up on maintenance requests to ensure timely completion.
Assist in maintaining hotel equipment, fixtures, furnishings, and facilities.
Communicate urgent maintenance and safety concerns to management.
Support hotel operations by assisting other departments when required.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and WHS requirements.
Work across a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays as required.
Skills and Experience
Previous experience in a handyman, maintenance, facilities, or engineering role.
Experience working within a hotel, hospitality, or commercial environment preferred.
Current Australian working rights.
Current driver's license.
Strong communication skills and fluent English.
Positive literacy and numeracy skills.
Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.




Flexibility to work a 7-day rotating roster.
High standards of personal presentation and professionalism.
Desirable
Experience in a 4-star or 5-star hotel environment.
General knowledge of building maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic electrical repairs.
Solid problem-solving skills and initiative.
Ability to priorities tasks and work effectively under pressure.
Customer-focused approach with a commitment to providing exceptional guest service.
Workplace Health & Safety
Safety is a key part of this role.
You will be expected to:
Follow all WHS policies and procedures.
Identify and report hazards and safety concerns.
Work safely with equipment and tools.
Participate in emergency, fire, and first aid procedures as required.
Record incidents, hazards, and accidents in accordance with hotel requirements.
