Your new role:
As a Senior Medical Officer, you will provide expert assessment, treatment and clinical leadership for patients presenting with urgent, non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, with opportunities to:
- Deliver prompt assessment, treatment, clinical decision-making and disposition within the Minor Injury and Illness Clinic scope.
- Perform procedures including wound management and suturing, slit lamp examination, superficial foreign body removal, incision and drainage of abscesses, and management of uncomplicated fractures and minor injuries.
- Recognise patients requiring escalation, stabilisation and transfer to an Emergency Department or other appropriate service.
- Work collaboratively with Principal House Officers, Nurse Practitioners, Emergency Physiotherapy Practitioners, Registered Nurses and the broader multidisciplinary team.
- Provide clinical supervision, teaching and support to junior medical staff, students and other healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to patient safety, quality improvement, research, innovation and a culture of continuous learning.
About you:
We are looking for a senior clinician who combines strong clinical expertise with collaborative leadership and a genuine commitment to patient-centred care, with:
- Specialist Medical Registration, or eligibility for specialist registration, with AHPRA in General Practice or Emergency Medicine.
- Extensive experience providing high-quality clinical care in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong urgent care or emergency medicine experience; experience caring for paediatric patients is highly regarded.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, clinical escalation and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise,
mentor and develop junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
- A commitment to continuing professional development, research, quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
