Your new company

A well established not-for-profit organisation is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its finance team. Reporting to the CFO, this role will take ownership of day-to-day accounting and payroll functions while supporting financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, funding accountability and business decision-making. This is a hands-on position offering a broad scope across operational and management accounting, ideal for a finance skilled who enjoys working autonomously and contributing to organisational improvement.

Your new role

- Managing end-to-end accounts payable and receivable processes
- Maintaining the general ledger, preparing journals and completing reconciliations
- Processing and reconciling payroll, including employee entitlements, superannuation and salary packaging
- Coordinating month end reporting and financial close activities
- Preparing management reports, budgets, forecasts and cash flow information
- Supporting grant reporting, acquittals and funding compliance requirements
- Assisting with BAS, IAS, audit preparation and year-end processes
- Identifying process improvement opportunities and strengthening financial controls
- Providing financial analysis and insights to support business decisions

What you'll need to succeed

- Experience working in a similar role




- CPA/CA or equivalent qualification
- Good systems skills and advanced Excel skills
- Sound understanding of Australian payroll, taxation and statutory reporting requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders
- Experience within the not-for-profit, community services or grant-funded sector (highly regarded)
