Kangaroo Valley

Senior Gardener Landscaper

Established in 2010, Delicious Gardens is a small team that focuses on quality garden maintenance, garden renovations, lawn mowing and medium sized landscaping work in Kangaroo Valley, NSW. We manage everything from large residential and commercial landscapes to compact courtyard gardens. We have a reputation in our small town as the largest most efficient garden/landscaping team.

We have over 70 lovely regular customers that have supported us for over a decade. Images of some of our work can be seen on our facebook page, Delicious Gardens and/or Kangaroo Landscaping. We have consistently been a team of five staff for several years, and as one of our long-term team members retires after almost 10 years, we are now seeking an experienced Senior Gardener / Landscaper who can work independently, take ownership of garden quality, and help lift the skill level of our team.

At Delicious Gardens we aim to help our clients create beautiful gardens, by being reliable, consistent and ensuring a high standard of work. Does this sound like you?

This is not casual or contract work. We're looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career with an established, stable business. This role offers genuine scope to progress into broader team leadership and operational responsibilities for the right person who demonstrates commitment to horticulture career development.

Skills and Experience:

- Strong plant knowledge and ability to diagnose garden issues (or genuine commitment to develop this with our support)

- Confidence making on-site decisions without constant supervision

- Ability to lead by example and mentor junior staff

- High standards of finish and presentation

- Comfortable managing time across multiple sites per day

- High attention to detail, the ability to appreciate the aesthetics of a garden and strive to always improve

- Good communication skills and presents well when interacting with clients

- Motivated to undertake additional training to deepen their skills and knowledge

- Genuine commitment to a long-term horticulture career - not just looking for a job to fill time

Advantages:

- Staff are supplied with a fully equipped work ute for business hours

- Work with a team of people who enjoy being outside

- The business already has a system for each client to make handovers to new staff very easy

- Full time: package (package dependent on a per applicant basis) + super

- Work shirts and jackets provided

- Flexible and friendly working environment (work days are typically 7 till 3, Mon - Fri)

- Employees are given opportunities for additional training paid for by the business in business time

- Overtime is available to the right applicant

- Clear career pathway with documented progression framework

The Reality!

- There is definitely an expectation on time management. If you can't work to a schedule, then you won't last long! Most days we visit multiple properties so the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time is critical to the role.

- We expect all staff to be able to call each other if there is a problem, if you have an issue with asking for help, this isn't the job for you.

- There are very few gardens that are flat in Kangaroo Valley, so you need to be physically capable.

- As a senior role you are expected to role model the ability to work through the challenges of being a gardener working outside.

- We need someone who can commit to being part of our team long-term - this is a career opportunity, not a stop-gap

Business structure

- We are a small, stable team with consistent growth

- This senior role offers genuine scope to progress into broader team leadership and operational responsibilities over time for the right person

- We invest in our people - if you're committed to horticulture, we're committed to developing your career

This role is ideal for a skilled gardener who enjoys autonomy, values quality work, and wants to play a key role in a well-established business rather than just 'getting through the day'. We're looking for someone who sees this as a long-term career move, not just another job.

If you are interested in this role we would love to hear from you - call Mark on 0439456*** with your relevant experience & why you're interested in the role BEFORE you send a resume to ****@deliciousgardens.com.au
