Emergency & Critical Care Consulting Nurse | Full-time or part-time
Are you passionate about triaging patients, making critical decisions, and thriving in a quick-paced Emergency Department? If you enjoy the consultative side of Emergency and Critical Care nursing, we’d love to hear from you!
We’re currently offering permanent opportunities for two ECC Consulting Nurses to join our dedicated team. Our nurses are highly valued and play an integral role in supporting our ECC consulting veterinarians and assisting the Customer Care team in running our Emergency Department waiting room, all while helping deliver outstanding patient care and customer service.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to stay in the ECC field while maintaining daytime hours during the week. It is strictly a Monday through Friday role, with hours ranging between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM. That’s right - no weekends or overnight shifts!
ARH is well equipped with CT, MRI, digital radiology, ultrasound, endoscope, in-house laboratory, ventilators, patient monitors and sophisticated emergency and surgical facilities. ARH utilises fully integrated Rx works software and operates with Smartflow electronic hospital charting. We also have the added advantage of internal referral to our associate specialist departments in surgery, medicine and advanced imaging.
What You’ll Do:
- Triage incoming patients (in person and by phone)
- Ensure appropriate and timely communication between clients and our team
- Provide the initial care to patients (ie administering medications as per veterinarian’s direction)
- Work alongside our ECC Consulting Veterinarians – including tasks such as but not limited to, assisting with performing and running diagnostics (blood work and imaging), fluid bolus’, wound care, dispensing medications, placing IV catheters and setting up patients who are newly admitted to the ECC department
- Liaise with ECC and Customer Care staff
- Maintain clean and organised triage and treatment areas
What We’re Looking For:
- Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing with 3+ years of clinical experience
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Interest in ECC and a proactive, positive attitude
- Experience in emergency/specialist hospitals is a bonus but not essential!
