THE POSITION:
As a member of the Events Team contribute to the inception, planning, co-ordination, implementation, and evaluation of Council Events including civic and community events, within a structured team framework, as well as assisting in the facilitation of external events on behalf of AlburyCity
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure ongoing monitoring and implementation of Council's event policy, strategy and plan, including maintaining liaison and cooperation with other Council departments as required.
- Formulate, planning, arrangement and implementation of AlburyCity’s events portfolio
- Liaise and work closely with the Events Team and other AlburyCity staff to ensure maximum participation and quality service delivery
- Build partnerships with Government and community agencies and contribute to any approved regional event planning initiatives
- Implement funding received from external sources in accordance with the conditions of the grant.
- To conduct specific events in an independent and autonomous capacity as assigned within the team.
- Liaise with the Business & Lifestyle Marketing & Communications Team to develop media and promotional event strategies
- Liaise with all event stakeholders, particularly relating to use of public space, risk management, traffic management, advertising, planning and development
- Co-ordinate and utilise AlburyCity and community resources available for events such as service clubs and volunteer organisations in an effective manner, focusing on strong relationships and positive Council image
- Provide assistance for external organisers to facilitate events for the city and coordinate use of public open space
- Respond appropriately and promptly to all community requests.
- Prepare reports, permits, arrange & chair meetings and prepare evaluation material as required
- Raise purchase orders, goods receipts, and invoices associated with events.
- Operate programs/projects within the agreed budget and relevant Council policies
- Represent Council at appropriate forums dealing with events issues.
- Carry out administrative tasks for the efficient operation of events and maintain accurate records.
- Actively attract recent events to the city.
- Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
- Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.
- Observe appropriate AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding day to day operations including Equal Employment Opportunity policies, AlburyCity's Dress Code and Standards Policy and AlburyCity's Code of Conduct.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Based on a 35 hour week, with actual days and times being to be negotiated with the supervisor.
- This position may involve work outside normal working hours.
Additional hours over the standard 35 hours will attract a time in lieu arrangement or payment of overtime rates as agreed in advance with your supervisor.
- This position does not require you to wear a compulsory uniform, however you must follow the dress code requirements within the AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
- This position involves working in a mix of environments including both indoor and outdoor. In addition to computer work, a moderate amount of physical activity may also be required, depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. Appropriate WHS standards will be applied for all manual handing activity. A full functional and medical assessment will be carried out for this position.
- This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing.
- This position is located at the AlburyCity Administration Building, 553 Kiewa Street, Albury with occasional visits to external sites/depots as required.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Tertiary qualification in Events/Events Management or a related field
- Class C (standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Extensive experience in event organisation or a related discipline
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- High level of knowledge and understanding of:
- Event organisation
- Community development principles
- Promotion and marketing of events
- Risk and WHS in regard to Events
- Ability to collaborate on creative and design concepts and skills
- Understanding of relevant protocols with regard to policy and procedure
- High level of computer literacy in the use of a variety of software applications including Adobe CS, MS Office Suite and web based CMS systems
