HOSPITALITY CO-ORDINATOR
SOUL HUB - PART-TIME - 28 HOURS
Soul Hub is a compassionate response to deep community needs in Newcastle. Since 2003 Soul has supported guests experiencing homelessness, social isolation, addiction, mental health challenges, unemployment and financial hardship. Soul provides in excess of 86,000 free meals each year. We exist to be more than a meal - we are a Convergence of Help where every guest is welcomed with dignity, respect and hope. Our 370+ volunteers and staff work together to provide help to Newcastle's most vulnerable.
The Role
Soul Hub is seeking a community minded, qualified Chef to take on this important and rewarding role as Hospitality Co-Ordinator. Assisted by dedicated volunteers this role is central to providing fresh and nutritious meals that support the health and wellbeing of our guests.
This is a people focused role suited to someone who is calm, confident in engaging with a diverse workplace and willing to share skills and knowledge to support the development of volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Smooth day to day operation of our commercial kitchen
2. Provide support and leadership to our diverse Volunteer Hospitality Team
3. Manage food inventory by effectively utilising donated and purchased supplies to create nutritious, cost-effective menus
4. Induction of Volunteers, Safety and Incident reporting
5. Overseeing the Hospitality component of Functions and Fundraising Events at Soul Hub
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Relevant TAFE qualifications or equivalent
Minimum 10 years' experience managing a busy kitchen
Essential that applicants have strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to lead teams and up-skill support volunteer workers
RSA (or willingness to obtain)
WWCC and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
First Aid Certificate (desirable)
