AIE is hiring a qualified Building Surveyor (Level 1 or 2) to join our growing engineering consultancy. In this role, you will manage a client book, deliver expert compliance advice, and advance your career with the backing of our established team—with clear pathways to business ownership.
We need a compliance-focused qualified who can expertly navigate complex Western Australian regulations, manage client relationships, and deliver on high-stakes projects. If you hold a Level 1 or Level 2 registration and want a high-impact role across diverse industries, we want to hear from you.
Your Impact
- Provide expert advice on the Building Code of Australia (BCA/NCC), Building Act 2011, Building Regulations 2012, and relevant Western Australian legislation across diverse projects.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of architectural and engineering plans, issue certificates of design compliance, and perform site inspections to ensure adherence to approved plans and safety standards.
- Work closely with our Civil, Structural, and Mechanical teams to provide guidance from the initial design phase through to final occupancy and site-based remediations.
- Use your professional expertise to build strong relationships with local government authorities, private contractors, and industrial clients.
- Foster excellence by sharing your legislative knowledge with multidisciplinary teams and supporting the development of junior staff within a safety-first culture.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- Degree in Building Surveying or Accredited Building Surveyor, with registration as a Building Surveying Practitioner (Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 Technician as recognised in WA) registered with DEMIRS (DMIRS).
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Building Code of Australia (BCA/NCC), Building Act, Building Regulations, and relevant Australian Standards.
- Demonstrated experience in assessing fire and life safety compliance in accordance with the NCC and Australian Standards.
- Excellent report-writing skills, ability to communicate technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders, and competent computer skills.
- Current WA 'C' Class Driving License.
Highly Desirable & Regarded
- Experience reviewing passive and active fire protection systems and specialist fire engineering documentation, including Performance Solutions.
- Previous experience working on commercial, industrial, health, education, government infrastructure, or Tier 1 mining projects involving complex fire safety requirements.
- A pragmatic mindset regarding complex compliance challenges in remote and cyclone-prone environments.
