PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
To carry out high-quality fabrication, welding, and structural repair work in support of Hazeldenes’ operations, ensuring plant infrastructure and equipment are maintained to the highest safety and durability standards. The role forms part of the Fabrication team within the Engineering Division and involves manufacturing, modifying, and installing metal components and structures across site. The Tradesperson also supports site maintenance teams, shares technical expertise, and contributes to continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform welding and fabrication tasks using MIG, TIG, and Stick techniques to manufacture, modify, and repair metal structures and components across the facility.
Read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication blueprints, and site specifications to complete jobs to required standards.
Carry out structural modifications, safety guard installations, and framework builds for equipment and facility enhancements.
Support urgent breakdowns and maintenance work by fabricating or repairing parts in coordination with Maintenance teams.
Maintain and repair fabrication tools, welding machines, and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Ensure all welding and fabrication work meets Hazeldenes’ quality, durability, and safety expectations.
Keep accurate records of jobs completed, materials used, and time spent, using the site maintenance or job tracking system.
Contribute to site safety by maintaining a clean, well-organised work area and complying with PPE and welding safety protocols.
Uphold compliance with OH&S;, GMP, and HACCP standards during all fabrication work and assist in site audits when required.
Participate in the installation and commissioning of recent metal infrastructure, support beams, equipment frames, and related plant structures.
Collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to plan and prioritise fabrication work with minimal disruption to operations.
Mentor Trades Assistants and apprentices, providing hands-on training and reinforcing quality workmanship and safety practices.
Participate in toolbox talks, shutdowns, project work, and continuous improvement initiatives as directed.
Perform other duties within the scope of fabrication trade work as directed by the Supervisor.
