As a member of the nursing team, the Ward Clerk contributes to the delivery of quality nursing care and is responsible for clerical, reception, requisitioning and courier services as required and any other duties as requested by Nurse Unit Manager.
The Position
· Arrange doctor’s appointments, and follow up care as required by day stay staff. Advise patient and nursing staff of arrangements.
· Must be prepared to extend hospitality and pastoral care to patient’s relatives in a professional, ecumenical environment.
· Escorts medically stable patients to and from other hospital departments (not outside Hospital grounds).
· Respectful and compassionate interaction with patients / relatives.
· Awareness of maintenance of Privacy / Confidentiality of Medical Records.
· Complies Medical Records with in the agreed timeframe.
· Performs any clerical/ administrative duties as directed by the Nurse in charge of the shift.
You will have previous clerical/reception experience in the hospital or health care environment.
To succeed you will have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communications.
