Are you a self-driven payroll and HR professional who thrives working independently, loves building better systems, and takes real ownership of your department? If you're confident, hands-on, and ready to run payroll and HR your way — this is the role for you.
About Us
Gennari Group is a Gold Coast hospitality leader operating across 5 venues, with a 6th on the way. It's an exciting time to join us — we're growing, and we're looking for the right person to bring energy, structure, and fresh thinking to our payroll and HR function as we expand.
About the role
This is a true 2-in-1 role, combining end-to-end Payroll and HR Administration into one position. You'll need to comfortably move between processing payroll with precision and managing the people side of the business — from onboarding through to termination. A strong, practical knowledge of the Restaurant Industry Award 2020 and related employment regulations is essential — it underpins almost everything this role touches. This role is based at the head office in Broadbeach, supporting all 5 (soon 6) venues centrally — you won't be tied to a single site. You'll work directly with Head Chefs, Venue Managers, and the Group Operations Team.
Key responsibilities
- End-to-end payroll processing across venues, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, the Restaurant Industry Award 2020, and reporting requirements
- Managing staff payroll queries and resolving them promptly
- Managing the full employee lifecycle — onboarding, contracts, terminations, exit surveys, and recruitment support for critical roles
- Providing analytical payroll reporting for the Operations team
- Maintaining payroll-related accounts through MYOB, including journaling and on-charging
- Preparing superannuation, Payroll Tax, and PAYG reporting, and assisting with reconciliations and annual reporting
- Maintaining up-to-date,
compliant HR resources — job descriptions, policies, and procedures
- Managing employee relations, including disciplinary processes and performance improvement
- Managing WorkCover premiums and claims
- Working directly with immigration lawyer on visa sponsorship and compliance
About you
- Proven experience in both payroll and HR/employment administration in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Confidence and experience working independently — you'll be running your own department, so you're comfortable owning outcomes without day-to-day oversight
- Strong self-management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands across multiple venues
- Prior experience with FoundU or a similar payroll platform highly desirable
- Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, the Restaurant Industry Award 2020, and HR best practice
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach — you spot problems before they become issues
- Solid IT skills, particularly Excel and payroll/HR systems
Benefits
- A genuine prospect to be part of opening a brand-new venue from the ground up — shaping payroll and HR processes from day one
- Full ownership of your own department, with support when you need it
- Your own private office at the brand-new, professionally designed head office in the heart of Broadbeach — central to all venues, not based at a single site
- Staff discounts across venues and perks with multiple partner companies
- Real opportunities for growth as the business grows
- A vibrant, fast-moving hospitality environment
