Scotch Oakburn College is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of Chinese to join our team at Scotch Oakburn College, Elphin Campus, Launceston. This is a permanent position within the Teaching P-5 Specialist Subject department teaching Chinese for approx. FTE 0.50. There is an opportunity for full time work with the balance of FTE in the Junior School Relief Pool. As a Teacher of Chinese, you will be responsible for:
- Planning and delivering high-quality Chinese language lessons to primary school students.
- Developing engaging and culturally relevant curriculum content that aligns with the school's educational objectives.
- Implementing effective teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
- Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to support their language acquisition and development.
- Collaborating with colleagues to integrate Chinese language and culture across other areas of the curriculum where appropriate.
- Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated with best practices in language education.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A recognised teaching qualification with relevant endorsements in Chinese language education.
- Registration with the Tasmanian Teachers Registration Board (or the ability to attain registration).
- Demonstrated proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese, along with a strong understanding of Chinese culture.
- Prior experience in teaching Chinese language at the primary level, including experience in developing age-appropriate learning resources.
- An enthusiastic and innovative approach to teaching, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
