About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller / Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations of a growing residential and commercial construction business. The successful candidate will work closely with the Directors and project team to ensure strong financial controls, accurate reporting, project profitability and effective cash-flow management.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the day-to-day financial accounting function

- Manage monthly IAS, quarterly BAS, Payroll Tax, Superannuation and WorkCover requirements

- Prepare monthly P&L;, Balance Sheet, cash-flow and management reports

- Manage Accounts Payable and Receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations

- Oversee project accounting, job costing, WIP and project profitability

- Monitor project budgets, committed costs, variations and cost-to-complete

- Prepare and manage business and project cash-flow forecasts

- Monitor progress claims, retentions, debtors and supplier/subcontractor payments





- Provide Directors and Project Managers with financial analysis and advice on cost control and project performance

- Assist with annual budgets, forecasting and financial planning

About you

- Previous experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Senior Accountant role

- Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial construction accounting

- Demonstrated experience with job costing, WIP, project profitability and cash-flow forecasting

- Robust attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

- Commercially minded with the ability to provide practical financial advice to Directors and Project Managers

- Excellent communication and organisational skills

- Experience with construction and accounting software will be highly regarded
