Great prospect to work for the Department of Education as a School Improvement Project Support Officer, supporting Early Childhood programs and making a real difference.

About the Role

The purpose of the School Improvement Project Support Officer (SIPSO) role is to provide administrative services to Early Childhood divisional staff. The SIPSO under the direction of the Executive Director, will work closely with the division's staff, Area Early Childhood Improvement Branch managers and other staff performing administrative functions across the region, to ensure required supports are provided to staff across the Early Childhood division.

The role is critical to the effective operation of the Division. It will involve periods of sustained independent work as well as frequent and varied contact with Department employees and members of the community. The role demands flexibility and the ability to work in a highly collaborative and supportive way with other staff across the region. The School Improvement Project Support Officer will demonstrate discretion, integrity and initiative in the performance of their duties, which include:

- Records management, including administration of divisional Sharepoint sites.
- Procurement, including hospitality, travel, office supplies and general invoice processing.
- General administration support such as meeting and event coordination.
- Program administration support.
- Supporting Area administrative staff where required.

About the Group

Schools and Regional Services (SRS) offers central, regional, and local expertise to enhance learning and development outcomes, supported by a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce. It comprises 17 areas within 4 regions, backed by 5 central office divisions, all collaborating to deliver improved outcomes for early childhood services, schools, communities, and learners, in line with Education State commitments. SRS regions serve as a bridge between the central office, schools, and service providers, ensuring smooth transitions for learners and achieving the department's ambitious targets. Each region includes divisions specialising in school performance, student wellbeing and early childhood support, working with area-based teams to tailor local interventions and practices. The 17 areas provide crucial insights into local trends and issues, facilitating effective policy and program development and driving child and learner outcomes across all services and programs.

This role is located in the Early Childhood Division, South West Victoria Region, SRS.

The Early Childhood Division is focused on driving system, provider and service level change to implement reforms and improve outcomes for Victorian children.



The Early Childhood Division is delivering on a range of government reforms including Best Start, Best Life, Three-year-old kindergarten and quality and child safety reforms.

The division leads work across the region, with Areas and also externally with key stakeholders (including senior lea ders in local government and other organisations) to drive reform and support quality and appropriate oversight of the sector.
