We are seeking a motivated, reliable and highly organised Funeral Director Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys variety and thrives in an workplace where no two days are the same.
Whether you're experienced in the funeral industry or looking to build a rewarding career, we're looking for the right person with the right attitude. We welcome applications from both experienced professionals and those new to the industry, with full training provided from day one.
About the Role
As a key member of our team, you will support the day-to-day back of house operations, ensuring every aspect of our service is delivered to the highest standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Transfers from hospitals, aged care facilities and private residences
- Mortuary preparation and maintaining the mortuary schedule
- Crematorium operations
- Coffin trimming and preparation for funeral services
- Chapel and service preparation
- Funeral service support and attendance
- Preparing plaques and memorial products
- Maintaining the presentation of our fleet, facilities, grounds and equipment
- Stock control and ordering of operational supplies
- Liaising with Councils and other key stakeholders
- Participating in an after-hours on-call roster, including telephone enquiries
- Maintaining compliance with Work Health and Safety requirements and safe manual handling practices
- Administrative support
About You

You will:
- Have exceptional attention to detail and take pride in doing every task to a high standard
- Be highly organised and able to prioritise your workload in a fast-paced environment
- Work confidently both independently and as part of a close-knit team
- Take initiative, ownership and responsibility for your work
- Remain calm, compassionate and professional in emotional or challenging situations
- Be comfortable working with deceased persons
- Follow procedures and instructions accurately, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care
- Have excellent communication skills, a professional presentation and a respectful, caring approach to customer service
- Be physically fit and capable of undertaking manual handling duties
- Be reliable, punctual and committed to maintaining the presentation of our facilities, vehicles and equipment
- A current unrestricted driver's licence is essential. Previous experience in the funeral industry, emergency services, healthcare, aged care, community services or another hands‑on role will be highly regarded; however, full training will be provided to the right candidate.
