Venue Manager - Phillip Island Winery restaurant, cellar door & event space

Phillip Island Winery is a family-owned and operated winery located in the picturesque coastal region of Ventnor, Phillip Island. Under the existing management since 2018, we have a reputation for exceptional customer experiences. We feature a 60-seat restaurant, 160-seat dining space, substantial outdoor dining offerings, a cellar door and tasting area, retail space and expansive grounds for weddings and events. We also have a small boutique vineyard featuring Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

About the role

Phillip Island Winery is seeking a driven and experienced Venue Manager to oversee all aspects of our hospitality offering. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for managing a team of hospitality professionals and ensuring the smooth running of all front-of-house and back-of-house operations. The successful candidate will work in office at our beautiful winery location in Ventnor, Phillip Island.

What you'll be doing

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the winery hospitality operation, including human resource management, financial management, sales growth and development, product development, customer service standards and inventory management.
- Lead a team of hospitality professionals, including a full time work-force of 8-10, a casual workforce of up to 40, plus maintenance and groundskeeping staff
- Oversee the planning and execution of events, functions,



and customer experiences in collaboration with the existing management team. The current management team includes a Weddings & Events Coordinator, Marketing Manager, Head Chef, two Assistant Venue Managers, Cellar Door Manager and venue owners.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and licensing regulations
- In conjunction with venue owners and management team, develop and implement strategies to enhance the customer experience and increase venue profitability
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators to support business growth

What we're looking for

- A passionate, level-headed hospitality professional
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a venue management or hospitality leadership role. Please do not apply if this is not the case.
- Proven track record of successfully managing a team and driving operational excellence
- Strong understanding of food and beverage service, inventory management, and KPI management
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere
- Knowledge of liquor licensing requirements and experience in ensuring compliance
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
