We are seeking a skilled and experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to join our team. This role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating on-site carpentry work while ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards. The Leading Hand Carpenter will work closely with the Site Supervisor, subcontractors, and apprentices to ensure smooth project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise carpentry teams on residential construction projects.
- Perform high-quality carpentry work, including framing, lock-up, and fix stages.
- Ensure all work is completed according to plans, specifications, and Australian building standards.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Train and mentor apprentices and junior carpenters, fostering skill development.
- Enforce workplace health and safety standards, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite to support productivity and safety.
- Identify and resolve issues on-site, proactively communicating with supervisors and clients when necessary.
- Be confident and capable of working alone.
Skills & Experience Required
- Trade qualification in Carpentry (Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent).
- Willingness to commence and complete Certificate IV in Building and Construction.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in residential construction, with leadership experience preferred.
- Solid knowledge of Australian building codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Ability to interpret and work from building plans and specifications.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
