Pius X Aboriginal Corporation is seeking Dental Assistants to support our busy dental clinic. The role is ideal for someone who is organised, community‑minded, and committed to providing high‑quality, culturally respectful oral health care.
About the Role
The Dental Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to ensure safe, effective and patient‑focused dental services. You will work closely with dentists and oral health therapists to deliver culturally safe care for Aboriginal families and community members.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare dental surgery for procedures, including instruments and materials
- Provide chairside assistance and ensure patient comfort and safety
- Manage sterilisation, disinfection and infection control processes
- Maintain clean, organised treatment areas
- Assist with patient flow, bookings, recalls and follow‑up appointments
- Welcome and support patients in a culturally respectful manner
- Record and update patient details accurately in the practice system
- Support patients to understand treatment plans and follow‑up needs
- Participate in audits, quality improvement and compliance activities
- Communicate effectively with the dental team and support outreach programs
- Assist with stock control, ordering and monitoring supplies
What We’re Looking For
- Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting (or working towards)
- Experience in chairside assistance and sterilisation
- Strong communication and patient engagement skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and follow clinical protocols
- Commitment to culturally safe practice and community wellbeing
- Reliable, organised and able to work calmly under pressure
