Employment Consultant – Work Placement Coordinator

Apprenticeships Queensland (AQ) is looking for a motivated, relationship-driven Work Placement Coordinator to join our Sales team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with solid sales instincts and a genuine passion for helping young people find their pathway into a trade or career.

About the Role

Reporting to the Group Training Coordinator, you'll be the vital link between local secondary schools and industry — sourcing suitable candidates for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, and coordinating their placement with host employers to maximise successful, long-term outcomes.

You'll build and maintain strong networks across secondary schools, RTOs, and industry, while using your negotiation and relationship-building skills to grow AQ's pool of quality candidates and host employers.

What You'll Do

- Promote apprenticeship and traineeship pathways in local secondary school communities (Ipswich and Brisbane areas)
- Source, recruit and place suitable candidates with appropriate host trainers
- Deliver individual and group information sessions to students, parents and school staff
- Manage documentation,



compliance and reporting requirements to a high standard
- Source new host employers and grow business opportunities for school-based placements
- Monitor and evaluate work placement outcomes, driving conversion to full apprenticeships/traineeships

What We're Looking For

- Proven sales experience with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Established networks with secondary schools in the Ipswich/Brisbane region (highly regarded)
- Sound industry connections and local labour market knowledge
- Knowledge of VET systems and relevant employment legislation for apprentices and trainees (or ability to quickly acquire this)
- A results-driven, highly organised self-starter with excellent time management
- Strong computer skills across email, databases, and word processing/spreadsheet tools
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
