Position Information

Georges Hall Public School is a dynamic school located in south-west Sydney. It is the largest primary school in the Chipping Norton Principal Network. The school serves over 700 students, with approximately 80% having an EAL/D background. The school has an opportunity class and three support classes for students with autism and a moderate intellectual disability. There are three students who identify as having an Aboriginal background.

The school has a large staff including two deputy principals, seven assistant principals and approximately thirty permanent teachers. Georges Hall Public School is committed to explicit teaching. There is a strategic approach to student wellbeing, through programs such as the PAX Good Behaviour Game, access to a trained health professional and a student club program.

Georges Hall Public School values solid partnerships with families and benefits from an active P&C; community. The school’s strategic directions for focus on student growth and attainment, learning and development, and wellbeing. The school will complete external validation in 2027.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria:

Strong and visible leadership with the skills to develop a long-term vision for Georges Hall Public School.
- 2. Capacity to lead the implementation of the department’s High Potential and Gifted Education Policy for all teachers and all students.
- 3. High-level knowledge of strategies to support students from diverse backgrounds and with additional needs to positively impact on learning and wellbeing.
- 4. Expertise in enhancing staff capacity to effectively teach literacy and numeracy.

General Selection Criteria

- 1 . High-level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high-quality education
- 2 . Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
- 3 . High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
- 4 . Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
- 5 . Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
- 6 . Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
