- Salary : $173,424 - $193,405 plus super and NFP Salary Packaging

The Organisation

The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal Community and is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia. The VACCA team is committed to the organisation’s visions and values, passionately providing support, service and advocacy for our children and other vulnerable members of the community.

About the role

The Director of the OCEO, works closely with and directly to the CEO, and is a member of the VACCA Leadership Group. The Director has a critical role in leading and influencing VACCA’s advocacy and policy development and building capacity in these areas across VACCA, along with strong involvement in strategic planning, governance, compliance and Board and other reporting.

Additionally, the position manages and leads social policy, fundraising and philanthropy, external training and communications teams. The Director is also responsible for liaising and building relationships with external sector stakeholders, ACCO’s, partners and ministerial advisers.

About You

- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the values that underpin VACCA’ vision and purpose and the capacity to take a leadership role in championing these internally and externally
- Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of State and Federal Aboriginal affairs; politically, societal and cultural,



with commitment to continually build knowledge of such, along with a high level of awareness of the key issues which impact upon Aboriginal communities.
- Outstanding knowledge and understanding of the State and Federal policy positions, directions and political opportunities as they relate to Aboriginal children, families and the Victorian Aboriginal community.
- Proven experience in providing high level quality policy advice, written and verbal.
- Display influential policy assessment skills including data analysis with narration, and synopsis of Forum papers and policy materials with evidence of highly developed conceptual, analytical, research and decision-making skills.
- Proven experience and demonstrated commitment to understanding and working closely with Client Services program executives to better understand programs, challenges and Aboriginal ways of working to inform social policy work and advocacy.
- Excellent management and leadership skills with experience in leading and managing a diverse portfolio of functions and teams, supporting the development of strategy and strategic, implementation.
- Requirements: Valid Police Check, a Victorian Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a Victorian Driver Licence.
