Registered Migration Agent | Melbourne CBD An established and growing Australian law firm is looking for an experienced Registered Migration Agent to join its expanding Immigration practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Migration Agent who wants to move beyond high-volume visa processing and take ownership of a diverse portfolio of matters while working closely with an experienced Principal Immigration Lawyer.
The practice advises a broad client base ranging from individuals and families through to corporate employers, businesses and professional sporting organisations. You will work across a variety of migration matters, with particularly strong exposure to employer-sponsored migration and corporate clients.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a diverse portfolio of migration matters from initial consultation and eligibility assessment through to preparation, lodgement and outcome.
- Advising clients on appropriate visa pathways, eligibility requirements, application strategies, risks and likely timeframes.
- Preparing and lodging visa applications, sponsorships and nominations across a broad range of migration categories.
- Working directly with corporate employers, HR teams and business owners on employer-sponsored migration and international workforce requirements.
- Building strong relationships with corporate clients and becoming a trusted point of contact for their ongoing migration needs.
- Supporting professional sporting organisations with migration requirements for international players, coaches and other personnel.
- Preparing submissions, statements, correspondence and responses to requests from the Department of Home Affairs and other relevant authorities.
- Proactively managing application deadlines, visa expiry dates, client expectations and matter progress.
- Identifying complex or higher-risk matters and working collaboratively with the Principal Immigration Lawyer on strategy.
- Maintaining current knowledge of Australian migration legislation, policy and procedural requirements.
- Working collaboratively with legal assistants and paralegals who can support the administrative and document preparation aspects of matters.
You will ideally bring:
- Current registration as a Registered Migration Agent with OMARA.
- Approximately 2–3+ years' practical experience managing Australian migration matters.
- Strong knowledge of Australian migration legislation, policy and visa requirements.
- Experience independently managing applications from initial assessment through to lodgement and outcome.
- Employer-sponsored migration experience is highly desirable.
- Experience dealing directly with corporate clients, employers, HR professionals or business owners.
- Exposure to a broader range of skilled, family, partner, student, temporary activity and other visa categories will be highly regarded.
- Sporting or temporary activity visa experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Strong written communication and submission-drafting skills.
- Excellent organisation, attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Migration Manager experience is highly regarded.
This would particularly suit a Registered Migration Agent who has developed strong technical skills within a migration practice and is now looking for greater matter ownership, more sophisticated corporate client exposure and the opportunity to develop their career within a broader law firm environment.
