About the role A unique chance has arisen within Mater Hospital Springfield, requesting Expressions of Interest to join the 12-month internal applicant pool for leave cover for the Assistant Director of Clinical Services - Perioperative, Outpatients and Cancer Care.

The initial leave coverage period will be for six weeks, commencing in October 2026.

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, you will be responsible for providing clinical and operational leadership for the Perioperative, Outpatients and Cancer Caren Services across Mater Hospital Springfield.

Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

We are looking for a proactive and strategically minded leader who can focus on both developing action plans to meet the services strategic goals, whilst also delivering on operational key performance measures. You may be responsible for the following:

- Lead large multidisciplinary teams with a focus on HR, financial performance and continuous improvement
- Full accountability for budgets, implementing cost-effective strategies to meet targets
- Advise on financial optimisation, including staffing, agency use and productivity measures
- Set clear expectations for direct reports and provide timely, constructive feedback and build high-performing team
- Champion Mater’s values, ensuring accountability, performance and cultural alignment
- Engage in organisational leadership, quality initiatives, and accreditation processes
- Role model professional standards, compliance, safety, and continuous development

About you

You will be an experienced people leader who is passionate about driving change and innovation in your field.



You will use practical and evidence-based research to suggest new ways of doing things and take a positive and adaptive approach to embedding change.

- Ability to provide possible on call coverage
- Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and at least 5 years post-basic or post-graduate nursing experience & experience as Nurse Unit Manager or higher
- Previous experience in a senior hospital/health services leadership role in a complex, geographically diverse, commercial environment
- Ability to promote and role model the Vision, Mission and Values of Mater
- Demonstrated ability to combine technical, financial and commercial acumen in the delivery of advice and business solutions
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret and lead action against financial and operational information
