About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking applications for Assistants in Nursing to join our Central Nursing Office (CNO) on a casual basis.

The suitable candidates will be required to work varying shifts, across a 24/7 period in Mater Hospital Brisbane (MHB).

Please note: These positions have mandatory Assessment Centre on Monday 12th October, and orientation taking place on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th November 2026. Attendance is mandatory for your application to be considered.

Salary range: $35.05 - $38.38 per hour plus 25% casual loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

You will support patient care by assisting with routine activities, observing and reporting on patient wellbeing, maintaining documentation and collaborating with the care team to ensure a safe, respectful and positive clinical environment. You will be:

- Supporting patient care activities within scope of practice and delegated responsibilities
- Observing patients and promptly communicating changes in health or wellbeing to senior clinical staff
- Undertaking delegated observations and assisting with routine patient care activities
- Assisting patients with personal care, comfort, mobility, and nutritional needs
- Contributing to holistic patient care that respects individual values, preferences, and cultural needs
- Maintaining accurate documentation in line with Mater policies and procedures
- Supporting a clean, safe, and organised clinical environment
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver positive patient outcomes
- Contributing to continuous improvement and maintaining a positive team culture





About you You are caring, adaptable and enjoy working in a collaborative healthcare environment. You bring a patient-first mindset and take pride in supporting both patients and clinical teams. To be considered suitable for the AIN Casual talent community you will:

- Be currently studying towards your Diploma of Nursing with Mater Education and have successfully passed Semester One
- Flexibility to perform in various wards across MHB, adaptability to seamlessly integrate into different teams and work under different NUMs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Consistent, flexible availability to complete shifts at short notice
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
- Digital literacy including confidence using Microsoft 365 applications
- Commitment to patient-centred care, safety and continuous learning
