Role DescriptionAn Assistant Professor / Professor is responsible for teaching, research, academic development, student mentorship, curriculum design, and scholarly activities within a university, college, research institution, or higher-education environment. The role contributes to academic excellence through high-quality instruction, research, knowledge creation, collaboration, and engagement with the wider academic and professional community.

Key responsibilities include designing and delivering undergraduate and postgraduate courses, lectures, seminars, tutorials, workshops, laboratories, and other academic activities; developing and updating course materials, syllabi, assessments, assignments, examinations, learning resources, and teaching methodologies; creating engaging and inclusive learning environments that encourage critical thinking, research, discussion, innovation, and independent learning; evaluating student performance through assignments, examinations, projects, presentations, practical work, and other assessment methods; providing constructive academic feedback and guidance to students; supervising dissertations, theses, research projects, capstone projects, and doctoral research where applicable; conducting original research and contributing to scholarly knowledge within the relevant academic discipline; developing research proposals, securing research funding, managing research projects, and collaborating with academic, industry, government, and research partners; publishing research findings in academic journals, conference proceedings, books, and other scholarly publications; presenting research at conferences, seminars, workshops, and academic events; serving as a peer reviewer for journals, conferences, research proposals, and academic publications; mentoring students and supporting their academic, research, professional, and career development; participating in curriculum development, academic program reviews, accreditation activities,



and quality-assurance initiatives; contributing to departmental, faculty, university, and academic committees; supporting academic administration, examinations, admissions, student recruitment, and institutional activities; developing interdisciplinary research and teaching collaborations; incorporating digital learning platforms, educational technology, artificial intelligence, data analytics, virtual laboratories, and innovative teaching methods into academic programs; maintaining accurate academic, research, assessment, and student records; engaging with professional associations, industry organizations, government agencies, and community initiatives where relevant; supporting knowledge transfer, consultancy, innovation, entrepreneurship, and commercialization of research outcomes where applicable; promoting academic integrity, research ethics, diversity, inclusion, and professional standards; and continuously improving teaching quality, research impact, student outcomes, academic programs, and institutional contributions.

Qualifications

- Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DBA, or equivalent) in the relevant academic discipline is generally expected for Professor-level academic positions.
- Strong academic background and subject-matter expertise in the relevant field.
- Strong knowledge of teaching methodologies, curriculum development, assessment design, and academic instruction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid research, analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to develop course materials,



lectures, assessments, research proposals, academic publications, and scholarly presentations.
- Strong understanding of research methodologies, academic writing, statistical analysis, and scholarly publishing where applicable.
- Ability to supervise student research, dissertations, theses, projects, and academic work.
- Strong student mentoring, academic advising, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with learning-management systems, virtual classrooms, educational technologies, digital research tools, and academic databases.
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence, data analytics, digital learning, educational technology, and AI-assisted research is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of research ethics, academic integrity, intellectual property, citation practices, and responsible research.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty members, researchers, students, industry partners, institutions, and external organizations.
- Strong publication, conference, research, grant-development, or scholarly engagement capabilities.
- Ability to contribute to curriculum reviews, accreditation activities, academic committees, and institutional initiatives.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to balance teaching, research, supervision, administration, and service activities.
- Professional membership, academic accreditation, teaching certification, or relevant disciplinary credentials are advantageous where applicable.
