Role Description The Biomedical Technician Cadet is a full-time, on-site role based in Townsville, QLD. The cadet supports the maintenance, testing, and repair of biomedical equipment under supervision, helping to ensure medical devices are safe, functional, and compliant with relevant standards. Day-to-day tasks may include assisting with scheduled preventive maintenance, performing basic equipment checks, documenting service activities, and maintaining accurate records in asset management systems.

The role involves collaborating with senior biomedical technicians, clinical staff, and suppliers to coordinate equipment servicing and respond to equipment-related issues.



The cadet also participates in training and development activities to build technical knowledge of healthcare technologies and relevant regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

- Foundational technical skills and interest in electronics, mechanics, or biomedical engineering, with the ability to learn equipment maintenance and repair procedures.
- Basic understanding of safety practices, infection control principles, and regulatory standards relevant to medical equipment or a strong willingness to develop this knowledge.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities to work with technicians, clinicians, and other healthcare staff in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Solid attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to follow established procedures and documentation requirements.
- Demonstrated reliability, time management, and capacity to work full time in an on-site, healthcare setting.
- Completion of, or progress toward, a relevant vocational qualification or degree (e.g., biomedical engineering, electronics, or a related technical field) is highly regarded.
- Commitment to ethical conduct, respect for diverse communities, and alignment with Queensland Health values and public service standards.
