About us

Quality Hotel Parklake is Shepparton’s leading full-service hotel, with accommodation, a restaurant, and a busy conferencing and events operation. Our kitchen serves à la carte dining, functions, and events across the property. We are looking for an experienced Chef to join our team on a full-time, ongoing basis.

The role

Reporting to the kitchen and venue management team, you will plan, prepare, and present high-quality food across our restaurant and events service. Your responsibilities will include:

- Planning menus and preparing and cooking food to a consistent standard for restaurant, functions, and events service
- Determining how food is presented and creating attractive plating and displays
- Estimating food and labour costs and ordering supplies
- Monitoring food quality, portion control, and stock rotation
- Enforcing food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards (including HACCP)
- Discussing menu and food preparation matters with management and kitchen staff
- Demonstrating techniques and advising and supervising kitchen staff during service
- Maintaining kitchen records and assisting with rostering as required

Skills and experience required





- A relevant qualification in commercial cookery (e.g. Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery) or Diploma that harbours commercial cookery subjects or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Chef in a restaurant, hotel, or high-volume kitchen
- Proven ability to plan menus, manage food costs, and maintain quality under pressure
- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to lead and coordinate kitchen staff during service
- Strong reliability, teamwork, and communication skills
- Availability to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
