Harmony Australasia is seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor (Surface & UG Infrastructure) to support delivery of Major Capital Projects across our Australia and Papua New Guinea Mine Operations. Reporting to the Manager Construction as well as interfacing closely with our Mine Senior Leadership (Project Owners), this role provides construction leadership to ensure project works are executed safely, efficiently and in line with schedule, budget and quality expectations. You will play a pivotal role in coordinating contractors, managing operational interfaces, and driving a strong safety culture across diverse brownfields environments.

Roster

This role offers a energetic, balanced schedule that combines on site impact with Brisbane based flexibility:

- 9 focused days on site in PNG
- 5 daybreak to recharge
- Two 5 day Brisbane weeks, with flexibility to work from home up to two days each week

Responsibilities The Construction Superintendent will play a critical role in safely planning, coordinating and executing construction activities across HGM’s operational areas.

Key Responsibilities Include

- Apply strong Construction Management and supervision capability to ensure all facility designs incorporate Safety in Design principles, Pre Construction Hazard Assessments and mine specific operational constraints.
- Support the Manager Construction in implementing best practice Construction systems and processes that drive safe, efficient and high quality project delivery.
- Provide input into construction tenders, contractor selection and contract specific conditions to ensure capability, compliance and value.
- Work closely with Project Management and Engineering teams to ensure all field works are fully planned, supported with Work Orders, SOWs, job plans and shutdown schedules where required.
- Lead contractor mobilisation activities, including formal kick off meetings, pre mob requirements, site establishment and demobilisation.
- Ensure all construction work fronts have effective critical controls in place (barricading, access/egress, lighting, communications, demarcation, signage and exclusions).
- Coordinate operational interfaces with Mine SLT and key stakeholders, ensuring contractor hours, accommodation, inductions, shutdown requirements and training are current and compliant.
- Record and manage safety incidents within the HGM incident management system, ensuring investigations, corrective actions and lessons learned are completed.
- Maintain accurate, revision controlled construction documentation within HGM SharePoint.
- Coach and mentor internal and external stakeholders on Safety in Construction and share learnings from previous projects.
- Ensure site instructions,



day work sheets and variations follow formal Project Change Management processes.
- Verify construction methodologies through Risk Assessments, JHAs and pre task hazard analyses prior to execution.
- Oversee QA/QC surveillance and ensure ITP requirements are met.
- Collaborate with OEMs, vendors, engineers and specialist service providers to execute works in line with design and construction plans.
- Facilitate operational walk downs, punch list close out and red lining of IFC documentation throughout construction and commissioning.
- Support Operational Readiness deliverables and contribute to Management of Change processes.
- Provide input into commissioning planning and ensure safe execution aligned with the HGM Commissioning Management Framework.
- Participate in project debriefs to capture performance insights, lessons learned and improvement actions.
- Conduct regular VFSLs, safety inspections and audits across construction work fronts.
- Act as a Safety Ambassador, modelling HGM values and driving a culture of zero harm and safe quality outcomes.

Qualifications

- Trade qualified professional with 10–15 years’ hands on experience in mining or heavy industrial environments, ideally within brownfields construction settings.
- Construction related licenses and certifications (e.g., high risk work, confined space, working at heights) highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in plant and infrastructure construction across surface and underground operations.
- Exposure to multi disciplinary project management within complex, live operational environments.
- Proven capability delivering construction works with significant design, regulatory and operational interfaces, including cross border teams and geographically dispersed work fronts.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and KPIs, contractor performance management and mine site delivery requirements.
- Solid knowledge of statutory requirements and WHS legislation (Australia and PNG), with the ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures to construction execution.
- Ability to read and interpret design plans and translate design intent into safe, compliant field delivery.
- High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups.




- Proficiency in MS Office and project systems including MS Project, SharePoint, Teams and incident management systems; working knowledge of Pronto (ERP) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities within tight timeframes, operational constraints and statutory requirements.

- Capability to work to strict deadlines, with competing timeframes (priority-based), with high degree of accuracy and decision-making.
- Proven track record of being able to coach / mentor direct reports / peers, including team development planning.
- Problem-solving, structured and systematic approach with enthusiasm, commitment and self-direction.
- Current 'C' Class drivers' licence and willingness to travel to remote locations across NSW, QLD and PNG
